Haryana schools to stay shut: Haryana government declared July 31 a gazetted holiday thereby closing all the schools of state including Gurgaon and Faridabad.
The day though is a public and private school vacation in remembrance of Shahid Udham Singh’s Martyrdom. One renowned school according to the media on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 issued a notice saying that this would be an off day to mark Shahid Udham Singh Martyrdom Day as announced by the Haryana government.
A few months ago in December, the Haryana governmnet’s holiday calendar for 2024 was released.
Shahid Udham Singh together with other martyrs were freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom. The mastermind behind Jallianwala Bagh massacre was Michael O’Dwyer whose killing was avenged by Shahid Udham Singh.
UP schools are going on vacation due to Kanwar Yatra
On another note, Haridwar and Ghaziabad schools will remain closed between July 27 and August 2, 2024 because of Kanwar Yatra. The devotees of Dudeshwar Nath Temple in Ghaziabad will be joined by thousands of religious tourists. Haridwar had its learning institutions shut down due to an influx of Shiva pilgrims during the time of Kanwar Yatra. This order specifies that all Government and Private Schools and Anganwadi Centers running classes from class I to XII shall remain closed during this period.
