Opposition parties such as the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and other regional parties in the state will also be looking to regain ground in the state. In early 2019 and again in 2014, INC faced major setbacks and failed to win any seats in Gujarat.
While the Congress party has fielded candidates in 23 seats, its India Bloc ally AAP is contesting in 2 seats. Samajwadi Party is also contesting 1 seat.
In the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP won an absolute majority of 156 seats – the most seats won by any party in the history of Gujarat. Meanwhile, Congress numbers fell to their lowest in three decades in the state, with the Aam Aadmi Party gaining five seats.
