On August 12, the Supreme Court of India hearing the CBI and ED petiioners on behalf of Kavitha challenging the Delhi HC order of July 1 denying the bail in two cases, fixed August 29 for the Respondents to file their counter.

Further explaining the said decision, the Supreme Court remarked that the Delhi High Court bail provision which grants women bail merely for being educated and independent is discriminatory and is liable to be struck down.

In a recent order declining Kavitha’s bail application, the high court ruled that she is likely to be a key and central conduit of the criminal conspiracy to devise and execute the now withdrawn Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

The ED arrested Kavitha (46 years) at her residence in Hderabad at Banjara Hills on March 15 and er was arrested by CBI from Tihar Jail on April 11.
