Durg ASP Sukhnandan Rathore said the police were investigating the incident from all angles, including the medical background of the accused. On the face of it, the defendant may have committed the crime because of superstition. The temple is located near the house and the accused’s grandfather was out when the incident occurred.
The accused also wrote illegible words like “Shiv Yahi Hai” or “Shiv Hari” on the floor. The police have asked the accused’s parents, who live in Raipur, about their son’s health but are yet to ascertain the exact information.
