Manohar International AIRPORT will begin notifying state governments on December 7 for the incoming revenue. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, its dated December 7.

State chief minister Mr Pramod Sawant further said that this airport would generate a revenue of Rs 150-200 crore (36.9%) for the government starting from 7th December. Sawant has also dismissed opposition accusations as baseless.

He added that May 31 was not the right day he mentioned because it was not consistent with previous timetable. “I will correct the date on my feet in Assembly,” he replied again.

Reaction to Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai accusing government of extending tax holiday Mopar Airport”, Sawant said “A lot of people have started making noise and accusations and I want to clarify the same. There was a delay of two years due to pendency in Supreme Court case. Were we not aware that there were 180 days holding back dates because of Covid-19, then having looked at dates mentioned in the document for 31st May 2024,”Sawant asked?

In addition, he noted that operations at the airport would commence on December 6th, 2022 and from this day onwards GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GMRGIAL) will enjoy a tax holiday for two years through till December 7th, 2024. We shall not lose even one rupee which belongs to our nation since we are not prepared for such loss under any circumstances.

According to Sawant, GMRGIAL had wanted an extension till January 2025 but they rejected it based on the period being equivalent to six months only.

On November 8, 2016, the government signed concession agreement with GMRGIAL who agreed under public-private partnership to construct and develop a greenfield airport at Mopa, Pernem taluka which included design build finance operate transfer(DBFOT) model.
