Government issues 'high' severity alert for these Apple users; check if your device is on the list

Apple users, the government is warning you of a “high” risk. According to a report released by the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), multiple Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook and even Safari browser) are at risk of being exploited by cybercriminals. The advisory, dated November 7, 2024, comes with a high-severity warning and advises Apple users to apply appropriate updates to their devices.
CERT-In is a cyber security agency under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

“Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products and have been resolved in various versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS and Safari,” CERT Consulting. It targets individuals and organizations that use Apple products and puts them at “high risk of information leakage and denial of service.”
The advisory warned that the security flaw puts users at risk of “potential unauthorized access to sensitive user information, denial of service and data manipulation.”

What should users do

Apple users are advised to update their devices to the latest software version to reduce the risk posed by these vulnerabilities. Apple recently released iOS 18.1 for iPhone users. Eligible device users must update their iPhone.
