People’s House secretariat revealed on Thursday that statues of Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar and Chhatrapati Shivaji etc are being respectfully re-located to the capitol While Congress criticized the move, it was itself a part of some landscaping campaign.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat explained through a statement: “After completion of the new Parliament building, an action plan has been prepared for landscaping and beautification of the Parliament complex to make it grand and attractive, befitting its high dignity and decorum.”
Responding to this development, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on X: “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi and Babasaheb The statue of Herb Ambedkar just got removed from its prime position in front of the Parliament House. This is outrageous.
Congress media and publicity chief Pawan Hera criticized the BJP and said moving these statues from their original places in assembly constituted disservice to Maharashtra voters who had not supported BJP response.
Conversely, a release from Lok Sabha secretariat stated that great leaders and freedom fighters’ statues were installed at different places in the complex. “These great leaders and freedom fighters have made significant contributions towards national independence; revival of our culture and spiritual life; consolidation of India as a strong democratic entity after independence…”
In reaction to the statement by Secretariat, Ramesh averred, “This is single most false explanation ever given by such an arrogant system run by such a rejected man by majority people in our country.”
