New Delhi: Former Minister of Pakistan Abdulrahman Kanju visited on Thursday Chautala villages in haryana Sirsa District and attended the celebration ceremony of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) to celebrate its victory in the recently concluded two MLAs Haryana Parliamentary elections. The event was also attended by INLD Chairman and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and Abhay Chautala diwali Celebrations.
Abhay Chautala said in a social media post on Facebook: “Late last night, we express our sincere gratitude to all the villagers for hosting a celebration ceremony on the land of our ancestral village Chautala to welcome Our dear Aditya Devi Lal ji and Arjun Singh Chautala thank our family and MP Abdul Rehman Saha Abdul Rehman sahab, who came from Pakistan as the chief guest on this special occasion.
“His presence makes today’s event even more special,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kanju also addressed the gathering and said that despite living on the other side of the border, Abhay and OP Chautala were always by his side, come rain or shine.
“We may live on the other side of the border, but Abai and Chautala have been with us through thick and thin. Abai is the lion of Haryana,” the Pakistani leader said.
“When I used to watch Haryana Assembly proceedings on YouTube, Abhay used to force questions in the House,” he added.
Kanju further said: “Diwali is the festival of lights to dispel the darkness. May Allah grant happiness to the people of both countries.”
Abhay Singh Chautala told the gathering that he had recently spoken to Kanju over the phone.
“When I spoke to him over the phone, I told him that he had come to attend Arjun’s wedding but we had not seen each other for a long time after that. I invited him to come and told him that Diwali was also around the corner.
“He immediately accepted my invitation. I also visited them many times,” Abhay Singh Chautala said.
The ceremony was held to celebrate the revival of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Haryana politics and to mark the Chautala family’s inheritance of the mantle of their ancestors. In the 2019 elections, the INLD was soundly defeated, with only Abhay Singh Chautala winning a seat; however, in the 2024 elections, the party’s vote share increased slightly. Arjun Chautala won Rania Assembly seat and Aditya Devilal Chautala won Dabwali, both by a margin of about 50,000 votes.
Chautala village has been home to as many as five MPs, 14 MLAs and a deputy prime minister.
