New Delhi: Over 150 people injured, 8 seriously, during annual Kaliyatam festival celebrations wilakavu temple Tuesday in Kasargod.
The incident took place around 12:30 am and the injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Kasargod and adjoining areas.
Kasargod MP Rajmohan Unnithan said, “Shocking news came from Nileshwaram in Kasargod district last night. Around 154 people were injured and admitted to different hospitals. This Theyyam festival is a special occasion for UP Customs of the people of Labar.
The explosion occurred in fireworks Temple storeroom. The injured were taken to various hospitals in Kasargod and nearby areas for treatment.
Kasargod MP Rajmohan Unnithan said: “By the grace of God, only 150 people were injured in this incident. The police were not alert on this festival.”
