On Friday night, a big fire broke out in Dashmesh Rubber Industries at Sarigam GIDC in Valsad district. All the labourers who were working in the rubber factory were rescued and there are no casualties. Furthermore, some parts of a plastic manufacturing plant nearby were also damaged.
According to sources, the sarigam fire department officials rushed to the scene around 12.00 am after receiving information about it and brought it under control.
In addition, fire department officials noted that there were around twenty five laborers in the factory by the time of occurrence but they came out very quickly. The blaze was coming out from the windows of factory and it had also caught some part of Navyug plastic company. In this inferno all raw materials as well as finished goods have been gutted.
Since one fire tender was not enough to quell down the flames. Even Daman and silvassa Fire department officials reached on spot too. After eight hours; eight fire tenders and more than 25 fire fighters brought down the conflagration under control. Through them Sarigam police also arrived on scene after getting message for help.
Speaking at his office in Sarigam Village, Mukesh Patel a senior officer said. “The company generates smoke during melting of rubber part from old tyres to create rubber sheets used for shoes”. But everything made from rubber was burned while. Navyug plastics suffered some damages which were however put off within a short time span. No one lost their life since all workers vacated their work stations. It is believed that short circuit led to this inferno whose value affecting sarigam is estimated over Rs 15 crore.”
