AR Abhi, who made his directorial debut with Lucky Lakshman (2022) and currently working on Fear, he attributes his growth to his passion and persistence. “I am from Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, but I grew up in India because of my father’s transferable government job, which broadened my horizons,” he said.
After his graduation, Abhi moved to Hyderabad and started his journey in filmmaking. “My family didn’t have enough money, so I worked in customer service to support myself, but never gave up on my dream,” he shared. Balancing these jobs with the job of an Assistant Director (AD) is tough, but rewarding. “I quit my stable job to pursue filmmaking, writing for nearly ten films and working in commercials for four films,” he said.
Looking back on his first directorial project Lucky Lakshman, Abhi said, “The project took just eight months to complete. While pitching the story to the producer, my wife, in the wake of COVID-19, Harissa Goginenisuggested we make our own movie. That’s how we started making it.
Abhi credits her with providing inspiration for their latest project, Fear, which hits theaters on December 14. Her attention to camera angles, lighting and technical details is exceptional, ensuring every frame tells a story in a unique and engaging way,” he said.
Talking about the film, Abhay explained: “It’s not like a typical horror movie or thrillerwhich combines unique storytelling, seamless transitions, and emotional depth to deliver a truly immersive experience. I’m sure the family will love it.
Praising the collective effort of the team, he said, “The performances by the cast have been outstanding and the music director Anup Rubens has recorded an excellent score. Our Director of Photography (DOP) has always believed in the award-winning potential of the script. As of now, The film has won 38 awards and 70 awards international film festivalwhich proves Haritha’s meticulous attitude.
