The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcasted next month and the host for this occasion has been confirmed at last.
This father and son duo of Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will host this year’s Emmy Awards. According to the Variety, the event is set to occur on Sunday, September 15th.
This pair made history in 2020 by becoming the first pair ever to win major awards in the same year thanks to “Schitt’s Creek”.
During that pandemic-impacted year when winners appeared remotely, Eugene Levy won for Outstanding Comedy Actor while Dan Levy won for Supporting Actor in a Comedy.
According to a source quoted by Variety, Dan Levy also took home an Emmy as an executive producer for Outstanding Comedy Series besides writing and directing awards.
“For two Canadians who have won Emmys in a real quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host it in a real theater this year is inspiring enough,” said the Levys in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier. I’m excited to raise a glass together with you all later tonight and toast what has been an exceptional television season.”
Eugene Levy and Dan Levy are fathers who are hosting Emmy Awards together; they are also hosts since Michael Che co-hosted their event in 2018 with Colin Jost. This father-son hosting duo were only second one of this century.
Other than Jesse Collins’ award winning Jesse Collins Entertainment; Dionne Harmon from Jeannae Rouzan -Clay’s company were lauded for producing Anthony Anderson’s last Emmy-winning TV show back in January.
