England’s skipper, Jos Buttler is expected to miss the third T20I against Pakistan on Tuesday since his wife is due to give birth to their third child.
After a washout in Leeds in the first match of the series, 33-year-old Buttler played a decisive and defining innings of 84 runs in Birmingham and helped England register a one-nil lead in this four-match series.
But he will now be absent for the Cardiff match on Wednesday with Moeen Ali as vice-captain leading England at Sophia Gardens instead.
This also serves as preparation for the T20 World Cup held both Caribbean nations and United States; England currently holds that title and plays their opening match defending it against Scotland on June 4th in Barbados.
Before the final game at The Oval which concludes this series on Thursday, Archer may possibly be rested from Cardiff.
Archer has been plagued by elbow injuries since starring role during England’s winning of World Cup fifty-over format in 2019.
However, following abandonment at Leeds, this long-awaited return to international cricket saw him claim two scalps among others as Joe Root & Co. eventually won by twenty three runs over Pakistan at Edgbaston.
He did eventually manage to end up with figures of 2-28 as he bounced back after an expensive first over went for fifteen runs ultimately.
