Tesla CEO Musk Unveiled the company’s long-awaited veil robotaxiknown as “Network cab,” in the “We, Robots” event Warner Bros. Discovery Thursday at the studio in Los Angeles. This futuristic two-door car looks like a smaller version of Tesla cybertruckcoming next year.
The Cybercab robotaxi has gull-wing doors and no steering wheel or pedals. Can only accommodate two passengers.
Cybercab relies solely on cameras and artificial intelligence for navigation, eschewing other hardware commonly used by robotaxi competitors.
Announcing the launch of robotaxis, Musk fully demonstrated 20 vehicles self-driving carsincluding Cybercabs and modified Model Ys. He highlighted the safety advantages of self-driving cars and said they could be “ten times safer” than cars driven by humans.
Musk announced that Cybercab is expected to begin production in 2026, and the vehicle cost is expected to be less than $30,000. He claimed that self-driving taxis would operate at about $0.20 per mile, making them cheaper than public transportation.
During the event, Musk also introduced the Robovan, a larger self-driving vehicle that can carry up to 20 people, and demonstrated Tesla’s Optimus Prime Humanoid robot. He suggested Optimus could sell for $20,000 to $30,000 in the future.

While the launch marks an important step in Tesla’s self-driving ambitions, the company also faces challenges. Regulatory approval is required for vehicles without traditional controls, and Tesla’s driver-assist systems have faced scrutiny over safety concerns.
