Lucknow: Election Commission has filed an FIR against a man in UP Azamgarh After he mistakenly said that his VVPAT form belonged to another party different from the one he voted for on Saturday.
This operation was staged after a video of a “test poll” exposed the lie.
When Arvind Rajbhar (25) contested, he was told by poll officials initially that there was some misunderstanding but he refused to accept this.
Navdeep Rinwa, UP Chief Electoral Officer, stated, “A Test-Voting was conducted in presence of all agents and yet its VVPAT remained the same. The entire process was recorded for evidence.”
Finally Rajbhar was handed over to the police who lodged an FIR under Section 177 of IPC against him.
In one of such videos released during early phases of polling at least three voters of Kheri and Mohanlalganj claimed that their VVPAT options differed with EVM options.
Two are still missing while another confessed in the video that her statement had been wrong.
