In 2024-25, BCCI India announced domestic cricket season will start with Duleep Trophy on September 5th.
For the 2024-25 season, in order to improve domestic cricket from its Bedrock with a specific focus on player welfare, the BCCI has designed a schedule that takes into consideration many factors.
This season will kick off with the prestigious Duleep Trophy where four teams approved by Senior Men’s Selection Committee will be participating. The tournament is set to commence on September 5th at Ananathapur.
After Duleep Trophy, cricket lovers can expect more action in iran cup and ranji trophyinclusive of first five league games
Then it will move towards white-ball cricket Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy instead of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Ranji Trophy ahead of the last two league games before the knockout stages begins again.
Throughout these arrangements, one of the major concerns of BCCI was women cricket as well as other key events which have been done while considering players’ health being top priority.
“To give players time for recovery as well as peak performance maintenance, we have extended breaks between matches,” said the BCCI secretary Jay Shah in an emailed statement.
“National selectors will select all Women’s Challenge tournaments including one-dayers, T20s and multi-dayers.”
Apart from that CK Nayudu Trophy changes were made involving improved points system aimed at achieving balanced performance among teams. Under such a new scheme, sides would earn points based on not only their batting and bowling performances in the first innings but also when they take first-innings lead or outright win.”
Through this change, teams are expected to become well-rounded institutions that do not reward just single outcomes but general performances.
“We will review this point system at length after the conclusion of season and consider implementing it in future seasons of Ranji Trophy,” said Shah.
The CK Nayudu trophy match is going to be a kick-off for tossing out the toss.
Under this new rule, visiting teams will get an option of either batting or bowling first thereby making it unnecessary to rely on traditional coin tossing.
