Cavaliers dominate game 2024-25 NBA season under their leadership Donovan Mitchell. Their record is 33 wins and 4 losses. Only the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference occupy second place amid fierce competition and aim to reach the top. Mitchell has been solid with the support of players like Darius Garland and Evan Mobley The Cavaliers are already at the top of the standings. This record is closer LeBron James‘2008-2009 Cavs game. Now, the Cavaliers are just inches away from surpassing James’ record and they are in a completely different game in hopes of winning the 2025 NBA championship.
Donovan Mitchell’s team, Cleveland Cavaliers, close to LeBron James
this cleveland cavaliers Led by star player Donovan Mitchell, they are making a strong impact in the 2024-25 NBA season. They dominated the Eastern Conference with a record of 33 wins and 4 losses. Their 20-1 home record is also shocking, as they are closer to the legendary 2008-2009 Cavaliers team led by LeBron James. Under the leadership of James, the Cavaliers achieved a 20-0 record after playing 20 games in the NBA. However, the current Cavaliers will not surpass James’ record because they have played more games to reach this number.
Mitchell performed well, averaging 22.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game, while shooting 45% from the field.
Offensively, the Cavaliers are one of the league’s leading teams with an offensive rating of 122.0, while their defense ranks seventh. Several other stars on the team also contributed to the overall gameplay, including Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen. The Cavaliers are playing their best basketball since LeBron left in 2018 and are now a legitimate contender for the 2025 NBA championship.
Still, there’s a lot of work to be done, or at least Mitchell has reason to believe that. Recently, the 28-year-old guard shared his thoughts on the Cavaliers’ strong start to the 2024-25 season. Although the Cavaliers hold the best record in the NBA and lead the Eastern Conference, Mitchell insists there is still a long way to go. “We’re playing well, but can we be this team consistently? Can we be this team when we lose two or three games in a row? Can we be this team before the All-Star break? Are we going to be this team? How long can we last? That’s the challenge,” Mitchell said of his team.
Regardless, under the strict guidance of head coach Kenny Atkinson, Mitchell is completely focused on pushing the team to its limits. As for LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers, they’re under scrutiny for their devastating performances in recent games.
Donovan Mitchell has the utmost respect for LeBron James
Mitchell and James are on-court rivals, however, the Cavaliers guard has the utmost respect for Lakers legend James. After defeating the Lakers 122-110 on New Year’s Eve, Mitchell praised James’ performance. James scored 23 points and 7 assists in the game. “You respect his availability and his toughness,” Mitchell approvingly greeted the King.

He added, “You look at his career, he’s done a lot of things, a lot of places to choose from, but the most important thing for me is that no matter what happens, he’s always there. He’s 40 Still doing it at this age.” That’s the ultimate respect for being there.
“Growing up as a fan, wearing a Cavaliers jersey, it’s a full circle,” he added, recalling James’ inspiration when he was with the Cavaliers.
