Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings, had a conversation with franchise head coach Stephen Fleming about his possible job in the Indian team.
The BCCI has started the process to recruit the position after Rahuld Dravid’s chief coaching term ends after T20 World Cup with applications open until May 27.
Reports on social media indicate that CSK’s coach for long is among potential candidates for India’s head coach.
Viswanathan said he had discussed it with Fleming under these conditions. He believes that Fleming might not want to commit to a nine- or ten-month coaching stint.
Viswanathan shared what he talked about with Fleming regarding that opportunity. I believe if we ask him, he will say ‘no’. However, I think it will not be his cup of tea because he does not like coaching for nine to ten months in a year. This is what I feel; but as far as I am concerned I have not furthered the discussion,” Viswanathan told CSK TV channel on YouTube.
He was also asked about the big shake-up expected in CSK squad when IPL 2025 comes knocking
Just wait until we hear from BCCI regarding retentions before we discuss anything.
“BCCI has not yet communicated to us what are they planning in terms of retentions ahead of the next cycle of auction so it’s too premature.” We hope that first, BCCI would talk to all of us and then decide on retention,” responded him.
CSK lost their last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru during last week’s group stage matches thus ending their defence for IPL title.
CSK won seven and lost same number of games under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad
With four-four points and an average net run rate (NRR) of 0392 over five-time IPL champions took fourth place by having played 14 games.
