Bomb threats were allegedly received by DLF Mall of India, Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Ambience Mall, Gurugram in Haryana on Saturday via email. Later on a spokesperson for the management of DLF Mall said it was all about security preparedness for such an incidence.
Noida additional deputy commissioner of police, Manish Mishra who also attended the exercise indicated that there was no bomb threat but it was a two-and-half-hour-long mock drill carried out at the DLF Mall of India beginning 11am.
“The local police among others together with the mall management’s security conducted a security drill at 11 am. The mall saw evacuation for 2 and a half hours before resuming normalcy. This happened without any bomb threat emails being sent to this place hence it was only until one o’clock when people started coming back,” he told Parami News.
“We would like to inform you that the recent activity at DLF Mall of India was a security drill conducted in collaboration with Noida authorities. We are pleased to confirm that the mall is now open and fully operational,” according to Spokesperson D.L.F., M.O.I.
DLF added: “Our customers’ safety is our main concern and we are committed to providing the highest level of protection ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.”
In Gurugram, both policemen and members from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) immediately arrived at Ambience Mall where search operation commenced.
According to news agency Parami, around 10 AM today district administration received an email threatening bombs in all malls across Gurgaon. On receipt of this mail district administration immediately launched searches across malls. Police administration dog squad civil defense team is involved in search operations, Mohit Sharma chief civil defense officer station Gurgaon said as quoted by Parami.
India Today says that an email threat came into Ambience Mall which claimed that the person behind it had set up bombs to kill everyone inside it. The same email mentioned two people who the sender claimed were responsible for the bomb threat, said a report in India Today.
