world focus cricket Will return to white ball in early 2025 ICC Champions Trophybut some of the former Pakistan Players are alarmed at the “unfair” advantage given to India by the tournament’s hybrid format.
Pakistan was the official host of the World Cup, but the Indian government refused to send a team to Pakistan, leading to a stalemate that took a long time to resolve.
After several meetings, a mutual agreement was reached between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (Board of Control for Cricket in India), ending the deadlock.BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (printed circuit board) The tournament will be played in a mixed format with India participating in all matches including semi-finals and finals if they qualify Dubai.
Additionally, Pakistan’s demand for a similar arrangement for the 2026 T20 World Cup to be hosted by India was also agreed to.
Apart from India’s match in Dubai, the remaining matches will be played in three venues in Pakistan – Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. However, some former Pakistan players believe this is an “unfair” advantage for India.
“India are the only team that knows where the semi-finals and final will be played, while other teams will know only after the group stage is over,” former Pakistan bowler Salim Altaf told Dawn.
The other teams in the Indian squad are Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand, who will travel to Dubai for their respective matches against India.
Former Pakistan captain Intihab Alam agreed with Altaf and said that while it would be an advantage for India to play in similar conditions at the same venue throughout the tournament, they would also not have to worry about travel and logistical issues .
“Like other teams, the Indian team will not go from one venue to another,” Alam told Dawn.
“Apart from getting a similar pitch and cricket environment at one venue, this will also avoid the logistical issues of travel. This would be unfair to other teams. I am surprised that other cricket boards have not come up with any Objections,” he added.
The Championship Trophy will be held from February 19th to March 9th and is highly anticipated india vs pakistan The competition is scheduled to take place on February 23.
