ICC has announced a respected panel of commentators for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 to ensure an all-round coverage of the tournament that is set to take place in nine venues across United States of America and West Indies. Some of the most recognizable names in cricket and broadcasting are part of this year’s panel Ravi Shastri, which assures a viewing experience like no other.
The commentary team will be led by Ravi Shastri, Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith, Mel Jones, Harsha Bhogle and Ian Bishop who have been broadcasting about cricket for years. Former Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cup champions like Dinesh Karthik, Ebony Rainford-Brent, Samuel Badree, Carlos Brathwaite, Steve Smith,Aaron Finch,Lisa Sthalekar among others will also be part of the team.
Moreover former 50 over world cup winners Ricky Ponting,Sunil Gavaskar Matthew Hayden, Ramiz Raja, Eoin Morgan, Tom Moody, Waism Akram shall give expert analysis on this tournament .
In his first ever World Cup appearance as a commentator James O’Brien-aka Jomboy an American commentator will provide insights specifically deliverable to American audiences.
Other notable figures in the commentary team include Dale Steyn, Graeme Smith, Micheal Atherton, Waqar Younis, Simon Doull, Shaun Pollock, Katey Martin etc alongside renowned broadcasters such as Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Natalie Germanos, Danny Morrison, Ali Mitchell etc., Alan Wilkins, Brian Murgatroyd, Mike Haysman, Ian Ward, Athar Ali Khan, Russel Arnold, Niall O’Brien, Kass Naidoo and former West Indian captain Daren Ganga
Aaron Finch who captained Australia to win last edition in 2021 said he was excited, “This is special event which promises a lot with 20 teams in contention and many great contests. I can’t wait to share my insights as a player on this tournament.”
Carlos Brathwaite spoke about his anticipation of the location for the tournament, saying, “This T20 World Cup is very close to me personally and I’m excited that it’s being held in West Indies and USA for the first time ever. My stint at the event as a commentator is eagerly awaited and I hope it will be memorable.”
Katey Martin talked about how anything could happen during the tournament, “There are always surprises in this competition. It will be interesting to see some of the Associate teams test themselves against the bigger sides with 20 teams participating. Dinesh Karthik focused on what made this year’s event unique stating, “This will have a lot of differences from previous tournaments making it even more exciting. This thrilling combination consists of 20 teams, 55 matches and quaint venues. What makes these commentaries exciting however,is because these players were my teammates only recently.”

The ICC will broadcast over 28 days; pre-match shows, innings interval programs, and post-match wrap-ups are part of this coverage. For the first time in cricket, ICC TV—working alongside Disney Star, Quidich Innovation Labs, and NEP—will roll out an AI-supported vertical feed for T20 World Cup.
