The bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, is confident that his team will win the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) prepare for their Sunday match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
In Qualifier 2 on Friday, SRH beat Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to reach the final. However, they lost Qualifier 1 against KKR by eight wickets and were scheduled for a clash with Rajasthan to determine who make it to the finals.
Hyderabad are playing the final this time in six seasons.Last time they reached the final was in 2018 where they lost it to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.
They have failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last three seasons and finished last in the previous edition of IPL.
Bhuvneshwar stressed how much he wanted to hold that trophy and joyousness of being in a summit meeting.
“It’s a different feeling because we hadn’t played in playoffs for past three seasons,” said Bhuvneshwar. “It’s a great feeling. The way we were going this season we felt like reaching up to the finals then it was just one game.Everyone is happy with how everyone has contributed and it has been incredible teamwork… Winning an IPL title is really special and now that we have reached final so certainly we will be champions.” Bhuvaneshwar told Jiocinema
Rahul Tripathi says he is looking forward to showcasing his abilities after scoring 37 runs against Rajasthan. He featured in only five games this season but scored 156 runs including one fifty.
“Shezzy I had to wait,” explained Rahul. “Even when I wasn’t playing I was thinking about how I can help my team out when my opportunity comes and what should I do with whatever chances come my way. That thinking made me. So whenever I was given a chance my preparation was to contribute positively,” he said.
Former Indian spinner Anil Kumble lauded Shabaz Ahmed for his all-round effort on Friday that saw him being named Player of the Match.
In his four-over spell he not only bowled eighteen runs but also took three crucial wickets, including Ravichandran Ashwin (0), Riyan Parag (6) and Yashaasvi Jaiswal (42), so that Rajasthan were restricted to 139/7 in 20 overs.
“RCB too, he showed up with cricketing smarts. He actually batted as well as his previous positions might suggest, even till now. Yes, he did bowl really well and hit the right lengths. Get your lengths right on Chennai pitches and just be stump-to-stump, that’s it,” shared Kumble.
“You don’t need to think about anything else. You have to try to spin the ball, hit the pitch and bowl a good length where it’s going to hit the stumps and that’s exactly what Shabhaz did. With the bat, his partnership with Klaasen, he batted really well. They were losing wickets, and his job was to be there till Klaasen was there and then take a chance. He did that to good effect,” he added
