Asked in an interview with PBS if Nasrallah had agreed to a ceasefire “before his assassination”, the foreign minister said Lebanon had informed the United States of the agreement after discussions with Hezbollah and the French government.

A statement released on Saturday announced that Nasrallah “has joined his fellow martyrs” and the group vowed to “continue the jihad against the enemy and support Palestine”.
The region plunges into further conflict with Hezbollah after it confirmed Nasrallah’s killing Israel The on-the-ground invasion of Lebanon begins. The Israeli army suffered its deadliest day in a year, with a total of eight soldiers killed. Israel launched a deadly airstrike on a Hezbollah aid facility in central Beirut on Thursday, killing at least six people, Lebanese sources said. The attack came after tensions rose after Iran launched its largest missile attack on Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatening consequences for Tehran. In response, Iran vowed to escalate its actions if Israel retaliated, intensifying a conflict that has killed more than 1,000 people in Lebanon.
The Israeli military reported a targeted airstrike on Friday as Hezbollah’s leadership was meeting at its headquarters in Dahiya, south of Beirut. Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah for more than three decades, was Israel’s most important target killed in weeks of intense conflict with the group.
