New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (bjp) launched a full-scale offensive on Monday congress chief Malika Junhag On his remarks against Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and accused the opposition parties of “Anti-Hindu” and “Anti-Senator.”
In a speech at an election rally in Maharashtra, Haq took a dig at the Uttar Pradesh chief minister, without naming him, saying: “Many leaders lived as sadhus and now have become politicians. Some. People even become chief ministers and they wear ‘gerua’ clothes and have no hair on their head…I would say to the BJP, either wear white or if you are a sannyasi, wear ‘gerua’ clothes and quit politics. . On one hand you wear ‘gerua’ clothes and on the other hand you say ‘batoge toh katogey’… They are spreading hatred among the people and trying to divide them.
Union minister and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal objected to Haq’s remarks and insisted that clothing choice should remain a personal decision.
“It should be a matter of personal choice for everyone. People have made many derogatory comments about Yogi Adityanath’s dress and appearance. They said that if he wants to continue as chief minister, he should ditch the saffron robe and wear White, join politics; otherwise, he should leave politics,” Goyal said.
“It is very unfortunate that a person who has devoted his life to serving society, giving up worldly pleasures, and entering politics with the purpose of serving society has been criticized like this. When I visited Gorakhnath Math in person, I saw people from different religions there. Man, I think that shows how inclusive he is.
‘Congress is anti-Hindu and anti-Sanathan’
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned Haq’s remarks, saying the Congress party’s stance reflected anti-Hindu bias. “This is the true philosophy and DNA of the anti-Hindu and anti-Sanathan Congress,” Poonawalla said. He believed the Congress selectively targeted Hindu symbols while avoiding similar comments on other religious attires. Say? he asked.
Poonawalla further criticized the Congress’ history of using terms like “saffron terrorism” during its rule.
“This is the same Congress that talks about ‘saffron terrorism’ and ‘Hindu terror’… They would never say such things about other faiths, which shows how Congress is harming Hindu faith for the sake of their vote bank,” Poonawalla said.
Supporting Poonawalla’s statement, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said Haq’s statement reflected the Congress’s “hatred for Sanatana Dharma”. Speaking to ANI, Bhandari said: “Malikarjun Haggar has hatred for Sanatana Dharma, he hates saffron, that’s why he used terms like saffron terrorism during the Congress rule. The Congress was against Sanatana Dharma.” Everything related to Natana Dharma is problematic.
In his speech in Maharashtra, Haq also criticized the BJP’s slogans, saying they posed a danger to national unity.
“The BJP has come up with new slogans these days. I just want to ask, is the country in danger? If the country is in danger, it is the people of the BJP-RSS. These people, who talk about division and killings, are from the BJP. “From morning till night, we have been trying to keep the country united and Indira Gandhi died to keep the country united.”
