NEW DELHI: With less than a week to go before the Delhi Assembly elections are announced, bjp The first list of candidates was announced and tickets were awarded to four current legislators, two former legislators and eight former MLAs.
Former West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma to contest American AP Association chief Arvind Kejriwal In New Delhi Assembly constituency, former South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri will face Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji.
Four former Delhi ministers — Kailash Gahlot and Raaj Kumar Anand, who served in the outgoing AAP government, and Arvinder Singh Lovely and Rajkumar Chauhan, who held key portfolios during the Sheila Dikshit government from 2003 to 2013 — also got tickets .
Lovely replaces Anil Kumar Bajpai, the sitting MP from Gandhi Nagar. Bajpai was elected as an AAP candidate in 2015 but later switched sides and won the 2020 polls as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.

Gehlot’s seat has been shifted from Najafgarh to Bhiwasan, while Anand will contest from the reserved constituency of Patel Nagar. Lovely will contest from his erstwhile stronghold Gandhi Nagar, while Chouhan will contest from the reserved Mangalpuri constituency.
Another former MP, Tarwinder Singh Marwah, will join former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia from Jangpura, the seat he held during the Congress government (Manish Sisodia) Competition.
Incumbent BJP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, veterans Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Mahawar and Jitender Mahajan, will contest again from Rohini, Vishwas Nagar, Ghonda and Rohtas Nagar respectively.
Former BJP MPs Kulwant Rana, Manoj Shokeen, Anil Sharma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa will contest from Rithala, Nangloi Jat, RK Puram and Rajouri Garden respectively.
Narayan Dutt Sharma is a former AAP MLA from Badarpur who joined the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and has now been fielded from Badarpur.
Several candidates such as Ashok Goel (Model Town), Raj Kumar Bhatia (Adarsh Nagar) and Rekha Gupta (Shalimar Bagh) had previously contested the assembly elections but failed.
The election is scheduled for February this year. AAP has announced candidates for all 70 seats, while Congress has nominated 48 candidates so far.
Rekha Gupta is the municipal councilor of Pitampura. Former south MCD mayor Khushiram Chunar was appointed from the reserved seat of Ambedkar Nagar. Kartar Singh Tanwar, AAP MLA from Chhatarpur who also hails from the same constituency, joined the BJP a few months ago. Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay will contest from Malviya Nagar.
Former MP Kumari Rinku is the BJP candidate from West Mapuri reserved constituency.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the party announced 29 candidates for Delhi parliamentary elections It is powerful and will become a catalyst for urban change.
The party is yet to announce its candidates for Karawal Nagar and Laxmi Nagar seats, which were won by its sitting MPs Mohan Singh Bisht and Abhay Verma respectively in the 2020 polls.
