Today, all the schools and Anganwadi centers in Dehradun will be closed because of an orange alert for heavy rain issued by NDMA. Magistrate Sonika pronounced that it was necessary to close all these establishments so as to ensure safety and avert any incident.
Sonika said that all public and private primary-secondary schools plus pre-schools in Dehradun would remain open on Friday due to “orange” warning announced by National Disaster Alert Portal under NDMA about the onset of heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning across the area.
“This move is simply a preventive measure against incidents since many parts of region have become prone to landslides due to excessive rainfall,” she added.
