Margao – In a recent move, the state government has given its permission to allot 3, 050 sq.mts of land at Macazana Leprosy Hospital, Curtorim Primary Health Center to Curtorim panchayat.
The said plot will be used for the establishment of Material recovery facility (MRF) develop the village’s solid waste management tool.
Cotolin MLA, Alexo Reginaldo Lorenzo expressed his happiness on this development.
“Approval of MRF in Curtorim has left me dumbfounded; this should shut up my detractors who are also partly responsible for holding back and delaying our village’s growth”, he said.
Lourenco had earlier spoken about his decision to deal with the garbage problem within his constituency. He vowed that they would find “practicable” solutions in conjunction with local bodies.
“We want to do it integrally; beginning from Curtorim,” Lourenco stated.
Lourenco went on saying that some places where people were disposing their refuse secretly have been identified and are under surveillance. He called on residents to remain watchful and report all these incidents to the panchayat office.
The villagers’ committee too began penalizing those who littered their homes and ordered them to clean those areas again.
