Christina Applegate’s teenage daughter, Sadie Grace Applegate Lenoble said that she has been suffering from POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) for several years when she went on “MeSsy” podcast hosted by Jamie Lynn-Sigler. On Tuesday’s show, it was mentioned that only in the last few months Sadie Grace had received an official diagnosis of POTS, although she had experienced symptoms for many years.
I don’t know what it is exactly but it’s something wrong with the autonomic nervous system that affects my heart,” Sadie explained. “So when I stood up I got really really dizzy and like my legs got really weak and I felt like I was going to faint.”
What is POTS?
POTS affects autonomic function which is responsible for things like heart rate, digestion, pupils size and blood flow among others; Google Trends – is starting to rank on this search. It causes an increase in heart rate when going from sitting or lying down to standing position. It is thought that between 1 million and 3 million Americans suffer from this incurable disease. USA
During her appearance on the podcast, Sadie described how she dealt with tremors and blurred vision as a result of her condition affecting her education. She statedthat while in class, she would sometimes feel unwell besides being in pain. Which not all teachers took seriously hence denying her the opportunity to see a nurse.
“They did nothing about it and it definitely hurt me physically as well as emotionally,”. she told Ms.Sadie says they would say things like ‘you’re sick? well too bad you have gym class next’ go run laps around the field. “I can’t do that.
Sadie wasn’t just ignore by school employees due to her medical condition. Applegate also admitted that she was unaware of her daughter’s problem. “I can’t believe we didn’t notice!” Applegate said, feeling awful about it. She then apologized to Sadie for not being there for her and compared her own struggle with multiple sclerosis.
“Once we step out there, the world’s stress and anxiety is what gives us more severe symptoms than. When we are safe in our cool house,” she said.
In the meantime, Sadie states that going through POTS treatment and medication has enabled her to understand her mother better. Three years ago Applegate was diagnose with MS and has been public about fighting against this autoimmune disease. This Emmy award-winning actress recently revealed having a relapse into depression earlier this month.
Applegate found out that she had multiple sclerosis three years ago and publicly talked about difficulties caused by the autoimmune disorder. Last time an Emmy winner discussed resumption of depression occurred at the beginning of January 2020.
Pots helped Sadie relate more deeply to her mother. She told Christina “If I don’t have it like (POTS) I’d probably be like, ‘I do not really care.’ I don’t know what you’re saying.’”
Abgate comforted his daughter: “I really hate you.I’m heartbroken.I love you baby girl. I know everything will be alright. I am by your side, supporting you.Just so glad you are letting people know.”
