On Tuesday, 14 countries reached an agreement Palestinian faction Establish a “provisional state” reconciliation government “Government of Gaza after the war Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
This week, a delegation of Palestinians from different factions including Hamas and Fatah have been in Beijing to renew their efforts toward reconciliation.
The groups pledged unity during their meeting on Tuesday.
Wang signed the Beijing Declaration in the Chinese capital on Wednesday and said that “the most remarkable highlight is reaching an agreement on forming an interim national reconciliation government based on the post-war governance of Gaza”.
“Reconciliation is a matter handled between Palestine’s political groups internally; yet it also has to do with international community input” Wang stated.
He also stated China would be happy to “play a constructive role in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.”
Hamas fighters drove Fatah out of Gaza Strip in 2006 following Hamas victory at polls ended up leading to deadly confrontations between them since then.
Ever since they took control of Gaza seven years ago, its rulers by Hamas have never changed.
The secularist Fatah movement controls the Palestinian Authority, which has partial administrative control in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
