Due to the controversy created by a spiritual guru’s speech, school education department Of explanation has been demanded from the principals of the two government schools located in Chennai for undertaking implementation of projects in the absence of approved agendas. In the recent visit of the School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi to Ashok Nagar Girls High School on a Friday, the students were encouraged to use their individual discernment in judging what is right and what is wrong. He said teachers will tell them what to do but also cautioned the students not to take others’ words blindly. He warned schools against organizing functions not related to education.

While this incident provoked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin into making comments without specifically referring to the controversial incident, he emphasized the need for scientific temper in schools. He spoke of the need to work out school project policies to make students interact with progressive concepts. “There is development only through science. That is what he said.
