Several new actors, including Charli XCX, Vincent Cassel and John Malkovich, have joined the upcoming thriller The Sacrifice, which already stars Chris Evans, Anya Starring Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Sam Richardson. According to Deadline , the film, directed by Romain Gavras, is currently filming in Greece and Bulgaria and has attracted an impressive cast.
The storyline of The Sacrifice draws some inspiration from the legend of Joan of Arc. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Joan, a character with a strong, almost mystical drive to save humanity. She hears a prophecy of unparalleled power, prompting her to take drastic measures to prevent the impending disaster. In her mission, Joan leads a loyal following of followers who share her fierce vision. Together they stage a takeover at a lavish charity gala, taking three guests hostage to carry out her plan.
The hostages include Mike Taylor, played by Chris Evans, a troubled movie star seeking redemption; Bracken, played by the world’s richest man, Vincent Cassel; and Ambika Mod Katie, played by Ambika Mod, stumbles into chaos. The film follows this unlikely group as they are dragged into dangerous situations and face physical and moral challenges. At the heart of the story is Mike’s personal journey as he faces a life-changing question: What is he willing to sacrifice to save humanity?
