Dehradun: Now believers can register for chadam yatra. The gates of the Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath shrines will open to devotees on May 10th which is considered to be a holy day of Akshaya Tritiya while Badrinath shrine will accept pilgrim starting from 12th May.
The heights at which these shrines are located necessitate their closure for approximately six months each year.
While some devotees prefer road or air transport, others are provided with helicopter services in case they would like to fly. On Uttarakhand Tourism official website it says that some people prefer making a shorter pilgrimage, called the ‘Do Dham Yatra’ where they visit only two shrines- Kedarnath and Badrinath.
How do you register Char Dam Yatra online?
Please visit the official website www.registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in to sign up for Chadham Yatra
Once you get there, click on “Register” or “Login” button to access registration form
Open another window, fill all necessary fields in this form along with your personal information including Name, Phone no., Email ID etc…
You have to undertake OTP verification process using mobile number and email address that you provided so as to confirm your identity.
After successful verification use the registered mobile phone number and password to login into the web site
Now you are logged into your personalized dashboard where “Add/Manage Pilgrim or Visitor” button should be clicked for further registration process.
On the next page enter all necessary details about your trip such as trip type, name, dates and number of travelling guests.
Additionally upload scanned photo id documents such as voter card/Aadhar card/driving license etc. for each member of group according to instructions received from helpline system on official portal through e-mail during last month.
Finally fill out and submit completed registration form, after which a Unique Registration Number (URN) will be sent to you via SMS on your registered mobile number confirming that you have successfully registered.
Lastly download the registration letter for Chardham Yatra that needs to be carried during the holy trip.
There are other ways of registering apart from online. One of them is “Tourist Care Uttarakhand” app, the mobile application on Android and iOs devices.
Another means of getting registered is through WhatsApp by typing ‘Yatra’ and sending it as a message to +91 8394833833.
How do you register for Char Dham Yatra offline?
Other than online registration, one can also get offline registration at different physical outlets. Some of these centres include:
For Char Dham pilgrimage, Yamunotri is the very first destination and can be accessed by traveling to Janki Chatti, approximately 220 km from Rishikesh. From Janki Chatti, it is a 5 kilometers uphill trek for the pilgrims to reach Yamunotri Dham.
How Can We Reach Gangotri?
Gangotri is another important place for Char Dham pilgrimage which has good road connectivity. It’s approximately 270 km from Rishikesh to Gangotri and pilgrims can easily get buses or cabs from Rishikesh or Haridwar till the town.
While making plans for a pilgrimage, it must be known that unique traffic rules are in effect. The following route will follow:
1) Devotees travelling from Rishikesh to Gangotri Dham will follow the following route: Narendranagar, Chamba, Dharasu Bandh, Uttarkashi, Gangori, Bhatwadi, Harsil, Gangotri.
2) Those who are going on a Chardham Yatra from Rishikesh have to go through Narendranagar – Chamba – Dharasu Band- Brahmakhal- Radi Top- Jankichatti – Dobata.
3) Pilgrims heading to Yamunotri Dham coming from Dehradun will have pass through Dehradun-Dhanolti-Mussoorie-Vikas Nagar-Dobata-Jankichadi
4) For pilgrims travelling back from Yamunotri dham towards gangotri the route is jankichatti-dobata-radi top-brahmakhal-dharasu bandh-uttarkashi-gangori-bhatwadi-harsil-gangotri
5) Such vehicles while going from gangotri to Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham must take Harshil-Bhatwadi-Gangori-Tekhala-Mando-Manpur-Chowringhee-Lambgaon-Srinagar Route
6) Vehicles going from Gangotri to Rishikesh must not go through the Harshil Bhatwadi, Gangotri and Tekhala bridges but should through Mando-Joshiada-Manera-Badethi-Matali-Dharasu.
7) The city also puts a ban on heavy trucks between 9 am and 9 pm.
