The highlight of this century was India’s golden run at the Olympics where the team won six gold medals in a row. India’s record of eight Olympic gold medals in total to date is unmatched. Meanwhile, the country also won one silver and four bronze medals at the Olympics.
After drying up gold medals in 1980, India returned to the Olympic podium in two consecutive editions at Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024, winning bronze twice. The Tokyo Olympics became even more special as the women’s team achieved its best-ever fourth-place finish.
The Hockey India League (HIL) is set to make the 100th anniversary of Indian hockey special with its return after a seven-year hiatus. In fact, in addition to the return of the men’s tournament, the women’s event will also make its debut at the HIL this year.
“When we start celebrating 100th Anniversary of Indian Hockeythe relaunch of the Men’s Hockey India League and the inaugural Women’s Hockey India League marks a momentous occasion. This year-long celebration is a tribute to our extraordinary journey and a testament to our enduring legacy.
