Footage from cameras installed in front of a stationery shop, a bakery and the Mundakkai mosque in Chooralmala showed water and debris from the landslide pouring into the buildings, causing walls to collapse and heavy rain lashing the Mundakkai area.
Store contents, including cupboards, were swept away by the gushing water.
Some of the visuals also include images of animals being affected, and of a man rescuing a bird trapped in accumulated mud inside a store.
Although CCTVs were installed in many buildings, not many videos of the destruction emerged as most buildings in the epicenter areas of Punchirimattom and Mundakkai were washed away.
Malayalam news channels aired CCTV footage of two shops in Chooralmala, while the footage of Mundakkai Masjid was released by the PRD department.
The Mundakkai mosque was destroyed in a landslide at 1.44pm that fateful night, with footage showing the area being hit by heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the district administration has released a draft list of 119 persons missing in the Mundakkai landslide along with their photos. However, officials said the list of missing persons was not final.
The forest department has deployed staff to prevent unauthorized persons from entering the affected areas of Mundakkai and Chooralmala.
Forestry staff and police will step up surveillance of the area overnight. South Wayanad DFO Ajith K Raman said staff have also been deployed to prevent people from unnecessary entry into the areas around Soochipara.
