Industrial and Commercial Bank of India (ICICI) was taken aback when Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two suspects from Patna for being involved in the NEET UG question paper leak. The arrest comes as the first arrest by the CBI in relation to this case.
According to officials, These two suspects were arrested from Patna namely Manish Prakash and Ashutosh.
The Examining Agency formally assumed charge of investigating NIT’s leaked paper Conversely, recently on Monday Bihar Police Economic Offenses Unit Office was visited and allegations on irregularities in the exam have been probed.
This happened yesterday at a special CBI court which sent them both into custody for several more days.
Accused Baldev Kumar Alias Chintu and Mukesh Kumar were remanded in CBI custody after being charged with leaking NEET UG Question Paper.
Abhijat Sheth, Chairman of National Board of Medical Sciences Examinations said that SOPs & protocols will be reviewed soon. And next date of examination will be announced after Union Health Ministry postponed NEET PG 2024 exam scheduled to be held on June 23rd some few days back.
Due to allegations about “irregularities” during this year’s May 5th NEET UG exams, government shifted 2024 NEET PG exams across all centers
On Monday, Bihar Government issued notification handing over the NEET-UG paper leak case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
It may be noted that investigation into alleged irregularities in NEET-UG Examination 2024 has been handed over by Bihar Government to CBI for a thorough inquiry into it.
In a statement Sunday, the CBI took over an investigation into alleged irregularities during NEET-UG Exam 2024 saying that it has already formed its own special team for conducting it.
The CBI had previously been handed over the responsibility by the central government for a full enquiry into the NEET-UG 2024 irregularities.
On May 5, 2024, NTA conducted OMR (pen and paper) based mode of NEET (UG) Examination. There have been numerous reported cases of alleged malpractices, frauds, impersonation and improprieties. On review for transparent examination process, Ministry of Education Government of India decided to hand over this matter to CBI for a comprehensive investigation in their office at Delhi.
NTA has faced criticism for alleged irregularity in conducting examinations related to NEET UG.
This raised suspicions because no other exam had ever seen more than three students score maximum marks till last year.
Following protests in several parts of the country and opposition attacks on the Centre, Director National Testing Agency (NTA) was sacked amidst controversy concerning irregularities about NEET-UG & cancellation of UGC.
