Lucknow: Central Bureau of Investigation (industrial and commercial bank) arrested two people, including a Junior Engineer (JE) and a government official camp committee In Ayodhya, charges bribery.
The accused was arrested for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.
The arrested person has been identified as Amit Devidiis a contract junior engineer in the Ayodhya Cantonment Board, Vijay Mate is also working in the same board.
According to the CBI, a case was registered on October 22 alleging that the accused illegally demanded Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
The bribe was in exchange for a letter of grant or permission for the removal of timber, which had been auctioned by the cantonment committee at a price of Rs 1.37 lakh and allotted to the complainant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught Vijay Mate red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. Further investigation, including controlled phone calls, revealed the involvement of JE Amit Dwivedi in the crime. Both men were subsequently arrested.
Both arrestees are scheduled to appear in court on October 23.
