Suresh Raina, the former all-rounder of India, has stressed not to take Bangladesh lightly in the forthcoming Test series there will be a great resurgence of the Asian side’s spin attack in that part.
During a Legends league cricket event, Suresh Raina, found the series goal which is India’s tour for the Border Gavaskar Trophy ‘s of great importance’.
“Now, a team for Tests will be formed. Top players playing Duleep Trophy is a nice initiative by BCCI. Such changes are evident when you play red ball cricket,” Raina said, as quoted by ANI.
He praised BCCI for taking this initiative to make the tournament more appealing by incorporating active and rising foreign players in the tournament, which is slated started on September 5.
“You cannot take Bangladesh lightly as they have a very nice spin bowling attack and some good players who have been performing well consistently for a long time. This series will provide good match practice considering the Australian tour,” further added former India player.
Therefore, the next domestic season is going to be very important for Indian cricketers with a two-match test series against Bangladesh commencing from 19th September which will be a test before the three-match test series against New Zealand in October.
These series are important in the context of India’s quest for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy which would take place later this year.
In particular, Suresh Raina mentioned the strength of Bangladesh’s spin, of which Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mahedi Hasan could be potential threats.
Returning back to the crowning achievement which was the latest T20 World Cup, Raina had the best words for the wicket keeper-the batsman Rishabh Pant. He mentioned how fundamentally hardworking, positive, and resolute Pant is.
“Considering the way he practises, he is doing very good wicket-keeping, he has batted very well and when one wins a World Cup, you know how much fun it is,” stated Suresh Raina.
He became only the second Indian – after Suresh Raina – to be the third highest worker for a total of 208 runs while also being the first wicketkeeper to dismiss 11 players in the plan that aimed at ending India’s 13 year drought of an ICC trophy.
