The passengers who had gathered under the canopy at Rajkot airport to avoid getting wet in heavy rain were met by a collapsing canopy.
In the early hours of this morning, a section of roof over Delhi’s T1 airport terminal collapsed and killed one taxi driver while leaving eight others injured. Eventually, all flights departing from the terminal were temporarily grounded as a safety measure following this incident. In total, eight persons have died due to rain-related incidents in Delhi.
Yesterday, India’s capital city witnessed its highest single-day rainfall in 88 years. The visuals from different parts of the town showed that many places were submerged under water which caused extensive flooding and hence long traffic jams that heavily affected people commuting.
On Saturday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate to heavy rains for three days in New Delhi.
