Canada has been issuing lesser number of visas to tourists and temporary residents and shutting more visitors out of the country, mainly owing to lack of sufficient housing and high costs brought about by immigration, government data has shown, as covered by the Reuters Agency.
Canada has offer its inhabitants to immigrate and expand their efficient and created societies. New opinion polls reveal however that there is a growing opinion among another Canadian consensus that too much immigrants are received to the country.
Canada, including students, workers, visitors, reported the turning away of 5,853 foreign travelers in July, 2019- the highest number registered since January 2019. From January to July in the year 2024, border restrictions averaged in a rejection of 3727 foreign visitors per month a range of 633 or twenty percent more than was recorded the year before.
Also, The number of visa holders who were found and denied entry into the countries on the data also was 285 in July, the highest figure since at least January 2019.
The adjustment by a CBSA spokesperson on why changes in findings of inadmissibility may occur was because there might be changes in immigration patterns or policies and such changes are case specific. However, the CBSA did not outline any particular changes in the policy but rather emphasized that “the CBSA’s role, policies and practices has always been, and continues to be, the examination of the eligibility of a person to come to Canada.” That much hasn’t changed.
In June, the proportion of rejected visitor visa applications to approved applications surpassed the historical record reached during the peak of the pandemic. Immigration department statistics indicate that during terms of January, February, May and June the year 2024, a higher number of applications were rejected than were approved.
The issuance of study/work permits by Canada is reduced, compared to the peak in the years 2023 and 2022.
During the month of August the Minister of Immigration Mr. Marc Miller commented “Canadians want a system which does not go berserk.”
In the words of Miller’s spokesman, immigration officials are developing an immigration policy and practices that are appropriate and do not involve any bias. It was claimed that a revision in the number of approved study permits was the result of a quota published in January but such a reduction seems to have begun a year before.
