Bhubaneswar: CBI has issued notice to senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi Involved in the investigation into alleged bribery allegations against Chanchal Kumar Mukherjee, group managing director of PSU Bridge and Roof Co (India) Ltd.
Mukherjee and three others were arrested in this case. On December 10, CBI police inspector Gurjinder Singh issued a notice to Sethi, currently the principal secretary of social security and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
The CBI has also asked all drivers involved in Sethi’s vehicle to join the investigation. He wrote in the notice: “It is learned that you have learned about some important and relevant circumstances of the current CBI case, which need to be verified with you.”
The notice was served to the senior IAS officer under Section 179 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which empowers the police to ask anyone familiar with the facts and circumstances of the case to join the investigation. Mukherjee and two others were arrested by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on December 8 in a Rs 10-lakh bribery case. Award work orders and clear bills.
The Bridge and Roof Co won the tender related to civil construction work at Nalco and further entrusted it to M/s Penta A Studio Private Ltd, a private company in Bhubaneswar. Mukherjee allegedly sought and received bribes from directors of the private company.
