
Ghaziabad: In a heartwarming display of humanity, organ donation The family of a 72-year-old man gave new life to two people in Indirapuram on Friday.
The septuagenarian was declared brain-dead at Max Super Specialty Hospital in Vaishali and her family decided to donate her organs, following which surgeons successfully removed the liver and kidneys.
The liver was transplanted to a 51-year-old man in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, one kidney was transplanted to a 43-year-old woman in Surajmal Vihar, and the other kidney was transported to PSRI Hospital through the green corridor.
The Indirapuram elder suffered from subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) caused by a brain aneurysm; she fought for her life for two days.
Dr. Subhash Gupta, who was in charge of the transplant surgery, said that after the unremitting efforts of the hospital’s medical team, she eventually passed away.
“The medical team saw a life-saving opportunity and contacted the patient’s family (her two daughters) to discuss organ donation,” the doctor said.
Doctors said both transplant recipients are in stable condition and are being monitored in the transplant intensive care unit.
“We are so happy that our mother touched so many lives through organ donation,” said the donor’s daughter.
