Currently, our operations are disrupted by a severe heat wave. One of the most disturbing aspects about this weather is that it has disrupted normal school sessions. Students in Bihar have fainted due to the extreme heat. In fact, students and teachers collapsed in Aurangabad, Motihari, Sivan, Sheohar, Patna, Begusarai Munger Jamui Banka on Wednesday.
Brajesh Mehrotra who is the Chief Secretary gave instructions for all educational institutions to be closed immediately due to potential health risks from high temperatures experienced during the heat wave which means that these students will not go to their respective schools. The Government has directed that all private and public schools, coaching institutes and anganwadi centres be shut down till June 8th 2024.
Accordingly, on May 29 at a meeting of Indian Disaster Management Group (CMG), officials from India Meteorological Department had predicted that there would be conditions of heat waves. There are also severe heat waves in other parts of India. Therefore, various state governments have announced that schools in different states will go on vacation early in the summer. In these places temperatures are rising mostly above 40 degrees Celsius hence posing great health risks for especially children.
