BS Yediyurappa, the former chief minister of Karnataka, was handed a non-bailable warrant arrest by a Bengaluru court in Poso case on Thursday.
The woman had filed charges against Yediyurappa who then died of lung cancer last month while admitted in a private hospital.
Yediyurappa has denied the allegations and said that he will fight the case legally.
Earlier today, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the CID investigating agency had issued summons to him asking him to appear for questioning before the court and if need be his detention too (Caller ID). I
“The notice has been served as per procedure and the charge sheet has to be filed before June 15. Prior to that they (CID) will file charge sheet. They have to follow procedure. They have to record his statement and produce him (in court), all these are procedures and what department will do,” he told reporters here.
To another question, Parameshwara said: “If necessary, they will arrest. I can’t say (if) it is necessary, the CID has to say. If they feel it is necessary, they will do it.”
