New Delhi: Brian Lara India head coach stressed on Tuesday Rahul Dravid Tailored strategies are needed to optimize superstar performance Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma During the T20 World Cup in America next month.
The squad includes eight players from the 2022 ICC tournament, reflecting the team’s confidence in the unparalleled experience of Kohli and Rohit. Believe that superstars can do it Sometimes, as a coach, you might feel scared to tell Sir Vivian Richards or Virat Kohli that you know exactly what you expect from them,” Lala told PTI .
While discussing the Indian team’s line-up, Lara cited the example of the experienced West Indies team during the 1987 ODI World Cup. Despite being captained by cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards, the West Indies team ultimately failed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
“First of all, in terms of the players that have been selected in the squad, the first thing I would say is that this is a dilemma that many countries have faced in the past. The West Indies in 1988 (actually 1987) was an example of this,” he said .
“Obviously when you have such good players you want to stick with the experience because you feel they can do it and there’s nothing wrong with it,” he said of Kohli and Rohit.
Lala said Dravid will go all out in planning considering the big stars in the Indian team.
“There are a lot of exciting young players coming out but there are challenges like that. India are an experienced team. My advice, that’s not a criticism on my part, it’s my opinion on Rahul Dravid. The advice is, of course, and to have a plan,” Laura said.
Although he also agrees Linku SinghThe omission was sheer luck and Lara is confident that the team under Rohit Sharma can go far in this edition.
“This team is capable of winning the World Cup. Yes, the team may be missing some youngsters because of the situation. But I still believe that if they plan well, India can win the World Cup,” Lara said.
