Nirmala Sitharaman The finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman struck back at the opposition on Wednesday by Trojan Horse” The remarks came against the backdrop of the Center donating Rs 12,000 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The opposition has raised concerns about Jammu and Kashmir police’s funding by the Centre because they believe it could be part of a central government’s plan to “retain” its internal affairs with regards to the union territory. Calling it a “Trojan horse”, as per their decision.
In her response, she attacked oppositions in her reply and said that, if there is any ‘Trojan horse’, it is Article 35 or even Article 370 – which make J&K unable to integrate into India..
If this was really a Trojan Horse, then Article 35A and 370 are the real Trojan Horse because it is not even part of constitutional amendment act; Instead it is placed in Addendum…which also forms part of Constitutional Amendment.
In a veiled attack on the opposition India Bloc, the finance minister said the holders of constitution should explain that “this is not deception; this is not ‘trojan horse’ against integration of J&K with Indian Union”.
“The term Trojan horse comes from mythology which refers to when Greeks used a wooden horse during war to hide themselves inside so as to penetrate into Troy city.” It’s used metaphorically from Greek mythology for strategy through deception appearance or subterfuge
Nirmala Sitharaman additionally claimed on Tuesday that: “This suspicion was deliberately created over whether we (Centre) bore salary bill for J&K police.”
“It was done intentionally leading suspicious about India, its governance and federal structure,” she said adding “it’s unhealthy”.
“Johnson & Johnson is becoming part of India again,” added Sitharaman.
Sitharaman further stated there existed no doubt over BJP’s long standing stand on Kashmir even before abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 when she said: “We belong to the firm belief One country, one standard, one law (One Nation, One Symbol, One Rule) It’s been like that since 1947.
In her address on Kashmir issue the Finance Minister took a dig at Congress charging the grand old party of “rolling out the red carpet” for separatists in the Valley.
“They were permanent problem creators but now we can develop J&K and control terrorists”, Sitharaman commented about them being separatists.
Before that, Finance Minister also responded to Budget discussion by Alliance ‘We have made massive allocations of Rs 17 thousand crore within Union Territory’s federal budget. This year as well. This comprises of Rs 12 thousand crore for police in Jammu and Kashmir by us.’
“Thus, we want to burden ourselves with this so that Johnson & Johnson can spend more money on developmental activities. In addition central assistance is Rs5000 crore,” she added.
