Argentina Confirmed Hezbollah The agent behind 1992 Israeli Embassy In Buneos Aries and 1994 AMIA (argentine israel mutual aid association) bombings, describing them as terrorists who continue to operate underground with the help of “dictator” governments to spread terror in South America.
The Argentine Defense Minister said that the Hezbollah agent was named Hussein Ahmad Karaki, and he published photos and information about the agent’s activities in South America.
“Today we put our name, surname and face on the brains and leader of Hezbollah in Latin America: Hussein Ahmed Karaki. One of the men responsible for the attacks on the Israeli embassy in our country and in Peru, Bolivia and one of the men responsible for at least three attempted attacks in Peru.
Ahmad Karaki has allegedly been working underground using false names and documents since the 1990s. Karaki reportedly recruited many Hezbollah operatives and planned several terrorist operations. He is believed to have been in the Argentine capital Buños Aries in 1992 and left the country on a Colombian passport hours before the embassy bombing.
According to the minister, Karachi remains active and has been involved in attempted attacks in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil in recent years.
The Argentine Defense Minister said: “He has been a ghost since the 1990s, working underground with false names and documents with the help of the dictatorship. We will demand a red alert for this criminal in Lebanon. ”
According to CNN, a joint investigation by Brazil and Paraguay identified Hussein Ahmed Karaki as the “operational director” of the Latin American Islamic extremist group Hezbollah. The report also quoted the Defense Minister as saying that the terrorist attack on the embassy was carried out under the direct order of Hassan Nasrallah, who was recently killed in an Israeli operation.
Argentina’s national court found Iran and Hezbollah responsible for the attack. In the AMIA case, it was concluded that one of the motives was related to the foreign policy of then-President Carlos Menem, which was aligned with the United States and Israel.
In 1992, the Israeli embassy was bombed, reportedly killing 29 people. Just two years later, a truck packed with explosives attacked the AMIA Jewish Center, killing 85 people and injuring 300 others. Although the 1994 attack remains unresolved, Argentina and Israel have blamed Hezbollah for carrying out the attack at the behest of Iran.
