Amber MatthewsTikTok user “Ambamelia”, 23, was arrested and charged with bias and intimidation after vandalizing property at a Greek restaurant he mistakenly believed greece flag It’s an Israeli.
The incident occurred in March, according to the New York Post Efi’s gyroscope in Montclair, New Jersey, but Matthews didn’t post the video to TikTok until October 15.
In her video, she shouts while tearing down the flag anti-israel sloganswhich has since gone viral, amassing millions of views and sparking an online backlash.
In the film, Matthews angrily removes the Greek flag in the restaurant, shouts “Free Palestine, bits**!” and accuses the business of supporting “Zionism,” not realizing that the flags represent Greece, and Not Israel.
The restaurant staff finally pointed out her mistake and she responded: “Oh my gosh…it looks like Israel.”
Matthews reportedly visited the restaurant a week ago and handed out pro-Palestinian food Flyers.
Restaurant owner Efi Mihalis confirmed the incident and said her staff were shocked by the unprovoked attack, adding that Matthews was responsible property damage.
Mihalis reported the incident to Montclair police in March, but no leads emerged until footage surfaced and an investigation was finally launched.
Matthews facing her court hearing on December 3 and has since sparked criticism on social media, with commenters calling the incident “embarrassing” and deriding the flag as a case of mistaken identity.
