Bangalore: karnataka high court The petition filed by two people accused of defrauding e-commerce giant Amazon of over Rs 69 lakh has been dismissed.
The accused Sourish Bose and Deepanvita Ghosh requested the court to quash the FIR and the district court order against them.
However, Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed their plea, saying it was an example of “modern crime”.
The case dates back to 2017, when an Amazon employee exposed their alleged scam. Within 24 hours, he would request a return, refund, and allegedly replace the original item with a cheap knockoff, then send it back to Amazon.
The prosecution said the sending address was linked to Ghosh’s residence and other locations in Bengaluru. Bose and Ghosh face cheating charges under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code Internet fraud According to section 66D of the Ordinance Information Technology Law.
The High Court refused to quash the FIR and allowed the case to proceed.
