Manu Bhaker of India broke a 12-year jinx for Indian shooters without a medal at the Olympics by opening India’s medal account at Tokyo with her bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event on Sunday. Manu’s alma mater lady shree ram college for women celebrated her win and issued a statement: “The LSR family is overjoyed and extremely proud of our former student Manu Bhaker, who has won India’s first medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.”
According to Suman Sharma, LSR Principal, she was “soft-spoken but determined young lady going places”. Pahuja) added, “On her first day at school, Manu alma said, ‘I will make you proud,’ and that she did with history. After losing out at the last Olympics, Manu became disheartened. We all cheered her up and each told her it wasn’t over yet.”
