SSP Ajay Singh also cited Section 23 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 (POCSO), which outlines the responsibilities of the media: No media person or related entity shall report in a manner likely to damage the reputation of a child or offend the reputation of a child Or comment on children.
The SSP added that if any news is published or broadcast without verified information, legal action can be taken against the responsible party under Section 23 of the POCSO Act.
Alleged gang rape in ISBT
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly picked up by a bus driver and conductor from Kashmere Gate in Delhi on August 12 and taken to ISBT, Dehradun. The car stopped in a secluded area of ISBT where she, along with three other men, attacked her. Following this, the Dehradun police team collected CCTV footage from the ISBT and nearby areas of Kashmir Gate in Delhi.
